DIEZ Approval

DIEZ (Dubai Integrated Economic Zones) approval is a mandatory regulatory clearance required before starting any fit-out, renovation, engineering, or modification work within its regulated free zones. These include Dubai Airport Freezone (DAFZA), Dubai Silicon Oasis (DSO), and Dubai CommerCity.

The overarching authority oversees integrated economic zone operations independently from general Dubai Municipality (DM) and Dubai Economy (DED) regulations (except for specialized safety and health guidelines).

Key Categories of Approval

  • Commercial Fit-out & Renovation NOC: Required for office, retail, warehouse, and restaurant modifications. It ensures all designs comply with the authority’s fit-out and building codes.
  • Operational & Signage NOC: Necessary if you are installing exterior branding, modifying a business space, or upgrading infrastructure.
  • Utility & MEP Connections: Applies when contractors need to set up or modify electricity, water, and telecom infrastructure within the specific free zone.

General Documentation Required

To avoid rejections or project delays, submissions generally require the following:

  • Letter of Intent / Application Form: Stating the scope of your work.
  • Company Documents: Copy of the manager’s passport, Trade License (from DED/Freezone), and Unit Title Deed.
  • Tenancy / Lease Contract: Official acknowledgment form and Office Tenancy Contract.
  • Engineering Drawings: Detailed architectural, MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing), and structural plans.
  • Contractor Details: Prequalification of the executing contractor and their valid permits.
