DM Approval

A Dubai Municipality (DM) approval is a mandatory regulatory clearance required for any construction, renovation, commercial activity, or structural modification in Dubai. It ensures your project complies with the city’s strict safety, health, and environmental standards.

Key Types of Approvals

  • Building & Fit-out Permits: Required for new constructions, structural changes, and interior fit-outs (especially in F&B and healthcare).
  • Commercial Operations: Mandatory for businesses to ensure public health, food safety, and waste management standards are met.
  • NOCs (No Objection Certificates): Needed for utilities (DEWA), soil treatments, or adding external meters.

How to Apply

  1. Register Your Business: Obtain your initial trade license and an official Ejari (lease agreement) from the Department of Economy and Tourism (DET).
  2. Use an Approved Consultant: For building projects or structural fit-outs, a DM-approved engineering consultant or architectural firm must submit the concept, architectural, and MEP designs on your behalf.
  3. Submit via the Portal: Applications and required documents (layout drawings, site plans, ID copies) must be submitted to office.
  4. Site Inspection: Once your digital application is approved, coordinate with a DM inspector to review the physical site and ensure all safety codes are satisfied before you begin operating or building.

If your application receives comments or revisions, you can track the progress online and book meetings with DM engineers .
